Over the past 80 years our volunteers have enabled TPI-SA to become the vibrant hub that it is today.
It is only through the dedication of our TPI volunteers that the Association can provide or arrange assistance, advocacy, benefits and social functions for our members.
Our volunteers find their own rewards in the services they provide and the friendships they gain through volunteering. Each of our volunteers is a TPI member who understands the unique nature of military service and the challenges of disabilities. Because of this, our volunteers feel safe, secure, and part of a larger family.
Volunteering expands your skills and experience and is a way to stay active and engaged with the community.
What Do our Volunteers Do?
All of the valuable services provided by TPI-SA are managed by volunteers who work in our office at Richmond, Monday to Friday mornings.
Our volunteers are proud to represent our association at the various commemorative services such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day held across the state. These events provide valuable opportunities to speak with people about what we do, and who we support. Through hosting and attending these services, we can show our respect to those who have served in the past or are still serving today.
Some of our volunteers choose to attend training courses offered by DVA and become advocates for other veterans. Once qualified, advocates can advise and support veterans in making applications for compensation and can help them to obtain all their entitlements.
If a veteran is hospitalised for any reason, many will appreciate a visit from a member of our hospital visitation team, a service provided by our volunteers. The team has members able to visit all public hospitals in Adelaide and some of the private ones. Veterans and their families enjoy visits from our team and our volunteers have developed a great rapport with hospital staff.
How to Volunteer
The office is open every week day morning, and new volunteers are always welcome. We encourage you to come and look around the office and chat to the volunteers already working there.
For more information about volunteering, in the office, on the hospital visitation team, or as an advocate contact the office via telephone (08 8351 8140 Monday Friday 9.30am-12.30pm) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and one of our current volunteers will be able to assist you.
